Wilton High School Field Hockey 2024 Season 

KEY DATES & INFO

Hello, Field Hockey Families!  Before we know it, our 2024 season will be upon us! We’re looking forward to a fantastic summer and fall with you!

Here are some key dates and info to note:

NEW WFHA WEBSITE:  Registration Required by ALL Players & Parents

• WFHA is now using SportsEngine as our website and registration platform. As a result, all returning and new players must REGISTER HERE (no fee required) to receive WFHA announcements, register for programs and buy WFHA merchandise online.

WELCOME COACHES and NEW BOARD MEMBERS!

• Welcome and many thanks to our returning coaches:  Leon Kerr (Varsity); Chandra Ring (JV) and Shannon Danaher (Freshman).
• WFHA’s board consists entirely of parent volunteers. Welcome and thanks to our three new members: Yvonne Fielden, John Gregson and Lauren Grosso.

INITIAL DATES & EVENTS

• SUMMER CONDITIONING:  July 8 – August 7 on Mon/Wed. WHS Stadium Turf. Session 1: 8-9 AM; Session 2: 9-10 AM.  Optional but highly encouraged. Pre-season running & conditioning. Led by Jonathan Hudak, MS, CSCS. $185 per session. REGISTER HERE.

 

• PRE-SEASON CAMP:  August 12 – 15. WHS Stadium Turf. 6 PM – 9 PM. Optional but highly encouraged. Drills & scrimmaging. Led by Excel Hockey coaches. $375.  REGISTER HERE.

 

• SUMMER PRACTICES.  This year, per a new FCIAC rule, teams can practice with their coaches during the summer for up to 4 hours a week to prep for the regular season.  Registration info coming soon (upon CIAC approval of the rule). 

 

• TRYOUTS:  August 19 – 21. WHS Stadium Turf. Registration info coming soon.

 

• SEASON KICKOFF DINNER:  Sept. 3. WHS Cafeteria.  Registration info coming soon.

TEAM COMMUNICATIONS

SPORTSYOU

Once teams are determined in late August, all players and parents will be sent an access code to the sportsYou platform for day-to-day communication from their respective coaches, the WFHA board and parent volunteers.

FACEBOOK

All players – freshman, JV and varsity – are expected to join the WFHA Facebook group, “WHS FHock 2024.” Our 2024 varsity captains (Bridget Grosso, Paige Leung and Mary Sylvester) are managing the page and will be communicating team news through it, such as captains’ practices,  fundraising events, etc.  Parents are welcome to join as well but this platform is primarily for player communication.
